Buying a Property in Bulgaria, What is the Process? and Things you need
to know First thing is to make arrangements to get to Bulgaria. Because of the process involved in buying property it is advisable to stay 2 weeks. Most clients usually combine purchasing property as part of a holiday.
Can you Own Land? A non Bulgarian citizen can not own land in Bulgaria, however, it is possible to create and own 100% a Bulgarian registered company that owns the land. The company has to be legally registered by a lawyer together with proof of working capital. The creation of a company is not required if you buy an apartment. Once the property has been withdrawn form the market the vendors will expect the outstanding balance as soon as possible. It is important to ensure that all funds are available prior to paying your deposit as the vendors will not wait for extra funds to be transferred or other property to be sold and you may lose your deposit. The Notary has to legalise the deal and property taxes need to be paid. All documents are written in Bulgarian so we strongly recommend that you have all the documents translated into English. It may be necessary to give power of attorney to a lawyer to act on your behalf to enable a deal to be completed. Bulgarian
